3 Mins -The town of Haridwar hosted the Hindu celebration of Purna Kumbha mela in Jan, 2010. The major event was ritual bathing at the banks of the river. As many as 75 million attended. Other activities include religious discussions, devotional singing, and mass feeding of holy men. Kumbh Mela is the most sacred pilgrimage. The sadhus are seen clad in saffron sheets with ashes per the requirements of ancient traditions. Some, called naga sanyasis, may not wear any clothes even in severe winter.
